Festive worms

Yesterday afternoon I decided the office wasn’t festive enough for my liking. Fueled by the Christmas spirit (and procrastination) I spent my lunch break in Poundland and Home Bargains buying what I can only describe as Christmas tat. While standing in Poundland thinking how I can theme our office to win the competition for the most christmassy office I had a lightbulb moment. Our worm is red and red = Christmas! I hatched a plan and with a handful of pipe cleaners, a bag full of tinsel and a mini Christmas tree I marched back to the office triumphant.

I spent the better part of two hours winding pipe cleaners around a pen and gluing on paper eyes and if im honest, I’m pretty proud of the results! I figured that maybe someone out there might want to learn how I made my wee curly red friends so here’s the most simple step by step ever…

Step 1: Curl your pipe cleaner around a pen leaving 2-3cm still straight – I used a thicker pen to get a bigger curl

Step 2: curl up the 2-3cm of leftover pipe cleaner to create the head

Step 3: Make an eye, I went eco friendly and used the paper from a hole punch and a marker to make an eye

Step 4: Use a pritt stick to glue on your eyes – one on each side of the head (cheesy Christmas card stock optional)

Step 5: add a length of curling ribbon so you can hang him up – he’s great on a tree or hanging from the ceiling!

And of course, H poly likes to dress up for the festive season, what can I say? He’s a cool worm…

Theres nothing that gets you into the Christmas spirit more than crafts and being surrounded by festive colours. If you give my festive H poly crafts a go, defo tweet me the results @CaitlinMMcManus or tag me on instagram @kiehlym. I’ll be putting a picture or maybe a quick video of the office up on these at some point this week (need to wait until the office is empty first :D)

Signing off from my little festive grotto

Til next time
